Destiny The Taken King How To use the Interloper and open the "Kill Chest" on The Dreadnaught

In this short guide, we're going to be knocking out two birds with one stone. If you been exploring the Dreadnaught Ship since the Taken King launched, you may have come across the "Interloper" after killing some Taken Hive performing a ritual... It's that ball you pull out of the middle of that thing after you kill the Taken... yeah, you know the one.

Well, if you're like me, you've probably grabbed this darn ball several times, not knowing what the hell to do with it, and you end up running around the Dreadnaught like a chicken with it's head cut off. It's very frustrating (and that timer does not help).

Also, there's this chest, in one of these tiny tunnels that you have to crawl through that every time you try to open it, you die.  Or at least I died as a Hunter (apparently by activating certain Supers you can in fact open the chest without dying... just not the Hunter Supers of course). But anyways, yeah another frustrating mystery to solve.

Well, the Interloper gives you a buff, so that the poison around the chest doesn't kill you! Yay!

So, two birds... one stone... or ball rather.

If my written guide was a little confusing, make sure to check out my video guide above.

Also note that there are 3 separate areas where the Taken Hive perform this ritual. One directly outside the Court of Oryx, the second directly across from the Knight Guarding the Tunnel, and the third is in the video!

Destiny The Taken King - How to get Legendary Weapons & Armor Fast

Destiny's latest expansion pack, The Taken King, once again brings Guardians higher level trials to conquer and overcome, and with Year 1 weapons becoming pretty much useless outside of the Crucible, it's important to get your hands on some higher level weapons and armor.

Here's one way you can snag at least a few pieces of Legendary Armor and Weapons extremely fast, especially if you've been playing Destiny since day 1.

So as you can see, Destiny Year 1 Armor Materials (Hadronic Essence, Plasteel Plating, and Sapphire Wire), have now been replaced by more generic, universal Armor Materials for Destiny Year 2 and the Taken King Expansion Pack.  This means... you no longer need those year one Armor Materials.

Now as always, Bungie being the thoughtful developers that they are... are now allowing players to trade in Destiny Year 1 Armor Materials for Faction Reputation.

So, in order to trade-in your Armor Materials for Faction Rep, you will first need to "Pledge Allegiance" to one of the three factions (Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, Future War Cult).  As soon as you pledge your allegiance to one of these Factions you can immediately begin trading in those old Year 1 Armor Materials for faction rep, and of course as you level up your Faction you will receive Faction Rewards including Taken King Rated Legendary Weapons, Armor, Shaders, Emblems and more!

You can also trade-in other Materials as well, such as Year 2 Armor Materials (not recommended... right now), Motes of Light, Weapon Parts, and a few other things!

So, make sure to take a good look at what each Faction has to offer before pledging your allegiance, decide what looks best for you, join a Faction, and begin getting rid of all your useless Year 1 junk!

How to Increase Your Light Level FAST in Preparation for Destiny The Taken King Expansion Pack!

Here are some tips and tricks to Increase your Guardians Light Level Fast in Preparation for the higher level trials coming with the Destiny The Taken King Expansion Pack!

Pre Taken King Tips
Tip #1 - Purchase a Level 34 Ghost from the Speaker. This will increase your Guardians Light Level by 15 for only 820 Glimmer!
Tip #2 - Equip your Highest Rated Armor. Light Level has always been tied to armor in Destiny, and with The Taken King that hasn't changed.  Make sure you have the highest defense ratings on your armor to help boost your Light Level.
Tip #3 - Pay attention to your Class Items. Class Items now have Defense Ratings tied to them. Having the highest rated class item equipped on your Guardian will now also help increase your Light Level.  Make sure to complete the different Hunter, Warlock, and Titan Quests that came in the Destiny 2.0 Update to receive a level 30 Class with a 160-180 defense rating, and upon completing the quest you'll also receive a Level 40 Class Item with a 220 defense rating.  These will be crucial to obtain before going into the higher level content that's coming with the Destiny The Taken King Expansion on the 15th!
Tip #4 - Equip your Highest Rated Weapons. Light Level is no longer only tied to Defense Rating.  It's also tied to Attack Rating on your weapons as well after the Destiny 2.0 update.  By equipping your highest rated weapons you can easily increase your Light Level with weapons you already have.

Post Taken King Tips
Tip #5 - Don't immediately discard Blue or Rare Armor and Weapons. Bungie has made it clear that even Blue or Rare Armor and Weapons coming in the Taken King Expansion Pack may have higher attack or defense ratings than your current Legendary or even Exotic Armor and Weapons.  Make sure you're comparing each Blue or Rare item with your current items to see how they stack up!
Tip #6 - Artifacts - With Destiny The Taken King you will also be able to equip "Artifacts."  No only will Artifacts boost certain stats like Discipline, Intellect or Strength, but Artifacts will also have a Defense Rating tied to them which means your Light Level will increase immediately upon receiving your first Artifact! Keep your eyes out for these gems scattered around the Dreadnaught Ship!
