World of Warships Open Beta Is LIVE! - Gameplay Impressions and Sign-Up Details

The World of Warships Open Beta is now live on PC.  From the same developers that brought you World of Tanks and World of Airplanes... World of Warships will allow you to battle the high seas in an all new free to play naval action MMO! Check out my first impressions and gameplay from the open Beta below, and if you want to join in battle, go here to sign-up!

Just first impressions I think World of Warships is quite fun and easy to pick up.  It looks like the main factor that will set players apart is simply time played, simply because the more time you put into the game the more exchange credits you'll obtain which can be used to buy much more powerful ships and better upgrades.  So if you play a lot of this game, you'll definitely have an advantage as far as fire power, however there doesn't seem to be a huge skill gap as far as tactics that you can use against your opponent that will increase the skill gap to dramatically.  If you're playing with friends though, that could be an entirely different story.

I personally see World of Warships as more of a fun and laid back MMO, that once you get used to the trajectory of your cannons will be a fairly easy game to stay in the fight and win one on one battles consistently.

These are just my first impressions however, and the game is still in the Beta stage. It's still a work in progress and could change dramatically if they add new mechanics that give more skilled players a larger advantage.  Only time will tell.

World of Warships is a free to play game though, so it's definitely worth a try, and I would highly recommend hoping in the Open Beta to see if the full game will be worth the download and hard drive space.

At this time I'm unsure if there's a release date set for the full game, and I wouldn't be surprised if it came to next gen consoles like the Xbox One since World of Tanks should be hitting the platform soon!
