Wikipad Gaming Tablet Launching Next Week

Wikipad, Inc. just announced today that the gaming-based andriod device, the Wikipad Gaming Tablet, initially set to release last fall, will launch in the U.S. on June 11th and in the UK and worldwide later this summer.

The Wikipad Gaming Table features a 7" touch screen, 16GB of storage, micro SD and USB slots, accelerometer, and gyroscopes.  It also features a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, true widescreen HD, and HDMI out capabilities.  Initially you can pick up your Wikipad Gaming Tablet from Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and retailers for $249 USD.

More Features of the Wikipad Gaming Device

  • Runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • Removable game controller
  • Access games from Google Play, Playstation Mobile, and NVIDIAS's TegraZone libraries
  • Tegra 3 processor
The Wikipad is also $100 cheaper than the Nvidia Shield which is set to release later this year.  There are however some technical differences between the two Android portable devices.

The Nvidia Shield features:
  • Tegra 4 processor
  • 5" touch screen
  • 16GB internal flash memory
If you're deciding between the two, it's really a matter of size versus processing power.  The Wikipad Gaming Tablet may be larger, but the Nvidia Shield definitely has more power, as to be expected.

Do you see yourself with a gaming-oriented Android device?  If so, which one would you go with?  Size or power?  Let us know in the comment section below!
