Dead Space The Movie?

According to an interview with GameInformer, Jon Carpenter, director of such movies as Halloween, The Thing, and Escape from New York, is very interested in making a movie based on the Dead Space video game series.

Carpenter stated in the interview:

"I would love to make Dead Space [into a film]. I'll tell you that right now. That one is ready-made. I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something's on board. It's just great stuff."

Carpenter also tweeted earlier in the year, "Dead Space 3 is the first great game of 2013."

Carpenter is a 65 year old, avid gamer who said some of his recent favorites have been Dishonored, Assassin's Creed 3, and the God of War Collection.

"My son got me involved in games when he was growing up, " Carpenter said. "He and I spent time together playting.  He got me hooked on it."

While carpenter does express an interest in creating a Dead Space movie, nothing is expected to be in the works right now.
