DICE Discusses New LA Studio

Just recently EA opened up DICE LA as an extension of DICE Sweden.  Both studios plan to work on both Battlefield titles and future Star Wars titles, although it was previously thought that DICE LA would be dedicated solely to Star Wars.  However, EA has made it clear that both studios will work on both games.

Well, DICE sat down to tell us a little bit more about the role of DICE LA.  Enjoy!

Do you think it's a coincidence that EA and DICE have put a studio right in the heart of Call of Duty development?  They are looking for new talent . . .let's just hope the talent doesn't produce Call of Duty quality :/

Oops . .. did I say that?  Anyway, what do you think?

Batman: Arkham Origins "Deathstroke" Trailer

Batman: Arkham Origins releases on October 25, 2013, and if you pre-order this title you can play as Deathstroke.  Interesting.

What do you guys think about the new Batman: Arkham Origins "Deathstroke" trailer?  I must say, I'm more pumped about this installment in the series than any of the past games.  And one last thought . . .although Batman: Arkham Origins is not confirmed for the Xbox One or PS4, it's looking very next gen to me.  What do you think?  It's confirmed for every other platform imaginable.  Do you think we'll see it on the Xbox One or PS4?

All Confirmed Xbox One Games

These games were confirmed at the Xbox Reveal event on May 21st.  Microsoft also says they will be releasing 15 exclusive Xbox One games within the first year of the Xbox One launch, with 8 of these titles being brand new franchises.  Still hoping they will announce free-to-play games coming to the Xbox One, and would also like them to support Indie games as well.  For now, this is what we know to expect.

The Last of Us Multiplayer - Why Don't We Know Anything?

Naughty Dog's highly anticipated title "The Last of Us" will be available for PS3 on June 14th, and we still don't know anything about the multiplayer aspect of the game.  IGN dives in to take a look at the possible reasons why we haven't heard any specific information about "The Last of Us" multiplayer.  All we've heard so far is that it will be "very unique," and "very fun" (statements that are about as vague as anything I've ever heard).  Anyway, enjoy the video, and let us know your thoughts on what you think "The Last of Us" multiplayer might be!

Xbox One's New Buttons Explained

Microsoft has now explained the two new buttons on the Xbox One controller and their functionality.  The two new buttons called the "Menu" and "View" buttons replace the position of the "Start" and "Select" buttons  on the Xbox 360 controller.

According to a Microsoft representative talking to IGN, "The Menu button (on the right) will bring up context-specific menus which game and app developers can design to enhance the user experience.  The Menu button could be used in scenarios such as bringing up in-game menus, showing video playback options, and accessing commands on the console's user interface."

PS4 Has More Raw Power Than Xbox One

According to a recent comparison performed by Eurogamer comparing both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the PS4 apparently has 50% more raw power than the Xbox One GPU (graphics unit).

The Eurogamer author states:

"We know that both Xbox One and Playstation 4 are based on Radeon GCN architecture and we also  know that each compute unit is capable of 64 operations per clock,"

"So, again through a process of extrapolation from the drip-feed of hard facts, the make-up of the One's GPU is confirmed - 12 compute units each capable of 64 ops/clock gives us the 768 total revealed by Microsoft and thus, by extension, the 1.2 teraflop graphics core.

"So that's another tick on the Durango leaked spec that has been transposed acrross the final Xbox One architecture and the proof we need that Playstation 4's 18 CU graphics core has 50 per cent more raw power than the GPU in the new Microsoft console."

DICE Makes Big Announcements About Battlefield 4

It's no coincidence that DICE has decided to make some major announcements about Battlefield 4 on the same day of the Call of Duty: Ghosts reveal at the Xbox Reveal event. Not only has DICE now announced the Battlefield 4 official released date, but has also announced a new "China Rising" DLC (formerly known as "Drone Strike"), that's available with all Battlefield 4 pre-orders, as well as the availability of Battlefield 4 for both the Xbox One and PS4 on the same day of the Call of Duty: Ghosts reveal at the Xbox Reveal event.

Well, I won't take up your whole day . . .let's get into the good stuff.

Xbox One Reveal Summary- "All In One Experience"

It's official.  The next generation Xbox will be called the Xbox One.  Microsoft and the Xbox team are looking to bring users an "All In One System" for gaming and entertainment (big emphasis on entertainment).  An experience that will not only provide users with better hardware, meaning a better gaming experience than the Xbox 360, but also bringing a seamlessly easy to use entertainment system with features like "Snap" mode, which will literally allow you to run two applications at once, such as watching live TV and surfing the internet simultaneously.  Other features of the Xbox One include voice activation and high quality HD Skype integration with the Xbox One Kinect, and an all new "Trending" feature which will allow you to keep you up with what's hot not only among your friends, but the entire Xbox community.  The interface is very similar to the Xbox 360's interface, which we're certainly not complaining about.  It's a very easy to use Windows type interface (not Windows 8), that easily allows you to navigate between different apps.  However, the Xbox One will provide users with an all new personal home screen which will actually remember what you were last doing when you shut down, and that's what will display on your home screen the next time you power up.  Microsoft wants the the Xbox One to be simple, instant, and complete (and much more focused on entertainment).

Fuse Launch Trailer - Early

Insomniac Games has launched the Fuse "launch" trailer earlier than expected and it really shows off some cool features in the Fuse game (i.e. character abilities and weapons).  Fuse is expected to release on May 28th for the PS3 and Xbox 360.  Enjoy the trailer, and check out the Fuse gameplay walkthrough coming to the Chance Gaming Media YouTube channel soon!

Playstation just released a short teaser trailer for the Playstation 4 unveiling.  So it looks like we will finally be able to lay our eyes on the real Playstation 4!  Check out the teaser trailer, and make sure to check out all the PS4 specs down below!

We haven't really heard anything new about the PS4, or at least confirmed info, since the PS4 announcement in February, but it does look like we'll finally get to feast our eyes on the official product on June 10th.  Who knows . . .we might even get an official release date and retail price at this PS4 unveiling (this is just talk, I haven't heard anything. I promise).  Sony announced earlier this year that they were aiming to released the PS4 this holiday season.

Metro: Last Light Review & Metro: LL Ending Gameplay

Just finished playing Metro: Last Light, and I have to say this is one of the single best campaigns I've played in a long time.  The story is so immersive, there wasn't a moment I wanted to just stop playing.  This was literally the fastest I've ever finished an entire walkthrough, simply because I couldn't put the controller down (or take my hands off the keyboard), until my wife basically made me lol.

Grand Theft Auto V - Heist Jobs

According to GameInformer magazine, GTA V will present the player with about 5 or 6 big heist jobs throughout the game.  These jobs take preparation and will require the player, whether you choose to play as Trevor, Michael, or Franklin, to make decisions on how the jobs should be handled.  What does that mean?  GTA V will actually present the player with options for planning these actual heists.  Your decision will ultimately effect the dynamic of the mission, and with the ability to replay missions, you can even try out all the different options.  Do you want to burst through the front door and engage the mission head on?  Maybe you want to be more stealthy, and come through the ceiling, catching the guards by surprise.  GTA V leaves the choice to you.  Pretty cool huh?

The Last of Us VS Uncharted - The Last of Us New Gameplay Preview

A new exclusive demo beta for the The Last of Us has been sent out to some of the major gaming networks out there, and gives us a good look at The Last of Us gameplay features and game mechanics.  CVG has a great preview breakdown showcasing the gameplay . . .comparing it with the Uncharted games, and explaining their differences.

Battlefield 4 Gearing Up Advertising Efforts

DICE and EA continue to promote Battlefield 4 in hopes of possibly outselling Call of Duty: Ghosts later this year.  So far we've seen a 17 minute gameplay reveal of Battlefield 4's single player, as well as a teaser trailer that was released the very same day.  They've also continued to release screenshots from time to time just to make sure they keep Battlefield 4 in the public's eye.  Well, this time, they're gearing up their advertisement . . .literally.  A race car has been spotted in Germany, at the Nurburgring, sporting the Battlefield 4 logo.  Sure this is not something that the masses will probably see, but it does show that DICE and EA are dedicated to gaining the people's interest in the upcoming Battlefield title.

Batman: Arkham Origins Teaser Trailer

Batman returns in Batman: Arkham Origins.  Warner Brothers Games just released a new teaser trailer for Arkham Origins, and if the teaser is meant to showcase graphics, we're definitely taking a leap forward in the franchise.  Regardless . . .the new teaser definitely gets you pumped to hit the streets of Arkham City once again.

Batman: Arkham Origins releases October 25, 2013 for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. We will also so see the full trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins on May 20th.

Nintendo Is Now A YouTube Partner - What Does This Mean For You?

In a recent statment to GameFront, Nintendo stated,

"As part of our on-going push to ensure Nintendo content is shared across medi channels in an appropriate and safe way, we became a YouTube partner and as such in February 2013 we registered our copyright content in the YouTube database.

For most fan videos this will not result in any changes, however, for those videos featuring Nintendo-owned content, such as images or audio of a certain length, adverts will now appear at the beginning, next to or at the end of the clips.

We continually want our fans to enjoy sharing Nintendo content on YouTube, and that is why, unlike other entertainment companies, we have chosen not to block people using intellectual property."

The Elder Scrolls: Online Official Gathering & Exploration Video

Zenimax Online Studios just released an official "Gathering & Exploration" video for The Elder Scrolls: Online on their official YouTube channel.  It looks like you will be able to gather and craft things in ESO just like you have been in previous Elder Scrolls titles.  Crafting potions, weapons, and armor is a big deal in Elder Scrolls games, and it's nice to know that Bethesda will not stray away from this in The Elder Scrolls: Online.

The Elder Scrolls: Online is still in beta, and will be holding several beta events up until the official release.  If you haven't signed up yet, there's still a good chance you could gain access.  If you're interested, head over to the sign up page here.

"Frostbite Go" - "True Frostbite Experience" On-The-Go?

An excerpt from the recently launched Frostbite 3 official website states:

"One of our most exciting current projects is called Frostbite Go, a mobile division empowering EA game developers with Frostbite's proven excellent workflows and features to bring true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms."

As we all know, the Frostbite technology runs many of the largest titles from EA, including Battlefield among many others.  Does this mean that EA is going to bring some big titles that we've come to love to our mobile devices?  Battlefield on-the-go?

Metro: Last Light Is Live & Awesome!

Just finished up the first several parts of Metro: Last Light, and I'm very disappointed that I need sleep to function in life.  This game is awesome!  It definitely supersedes my previous expectations of the game, and I can't wait to immerse myself back into the story.  If you can get over the fact that Deep Silver presented the "Ranger Mode" difficulty as a DLC (although the game only runs $49.99), this is in my opinion a must own!  Check out the first part of our Metro: Last Light Walkthrough below, and make sure to check out the playlist for more!  Also, if you havne't ordered Metro: Last Light yet, check it out at GreenMan Gaming!

Battlelog Update Coming May 14

Dice and EA announced on Battlelog that a new minor update is coming to their social stat-tracking platform Battlelog on May 14.  Is this the Battlelog 2.0 that we reported on weeks back?  Could be, but personally, we don't think so.  I guess it's possible, but hence the term "minor update" we're thinking that we will have a much larger update nearing the release of Battlefield 4 that will integrate stat tracking for the latest release as well.

Well, I'm taking a small break from gaming news to bring you a very exciting announcement that I believe many of you will be glad to hear!

Star Wars: Episode VII is coming!

LucasFilm formally announced on StarWars.com, "production of Star Wars: Episode VII will take place in the United Kingdom."

Kathleen Kennedy, President of LucasFilm, went on to say, "We've devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I'm thrilled that returning to the UK for production and utilizing the incredible talent there can be part of that.  Speaking from my own longstanding connection to the UK with films like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire of the Sun and recently War Horse, it's very exciting to be heading back."

The six previous Star Wars films have all been filmed in the UK, and once again LucasFilm will head back to shoot Star Wars: Episode VII.

The film will be directed by J. J. Abrams from a screenplay by Michael Ardnt, and is scheduled to release in 2015.

Are you excited about Star Wars: Episode VII?  What do you think the new storyline will be?  The only notable screenplays we know of from Michael Ardnt are Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 :/

Sure they were award winning screenplays, but still . . .

Nothing like Star Wars.

Anyway, enough rambling . . .what do you think?

Check out this great parody of  Michael Ardnt  writing Star Wars: Episode VII
