Just last week online game retailer, Tesco, revealed on their website that the alleged "Call of Duty: Ghosts" would be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on November 5th. The information was then taken down shortly after, and just today Tesco again released this statement on it's website (which has also been taken down), suggesting that "Call of Duty: Ghosts" will have an all new story, characters, and even run on a brand new, next-generation Call of Duty Engine:
"The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty®: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine."
So it does appear that Activision and Infinity Ward Studios are steering away from the Modern Warfare series, although this still may be a modern day shooter. Personally, I think it's a good idea to usher in a fresh change from the Modern Warfare story, and I also think it will help the franchise out quite a bit if they step up the graphics with this brand new next-gen Call of Duty engine.
Here's some alleged box art the was listed by a Spanish retailer XtraLife for the PS3. They also released box art for Xbox 360, PC, and the Wii U.
